SANGEA™ is the first software of its kind based on the emissions estimating methodologies of the American Petroleum Institute's (API) Compendium of Greenhouse Gas Emissions Estimation Methodologies for the Oil and Gas Industry (API Compendium). SANGEA is designed to allow GHG reporting in accordance with Petroleum Industry Guidelines for Reporting GHG Emissions (Guidelines) published by the International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association (IPIECA), International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (OGP) and API. SANGEA provides a reliable, efficient, cost effective, comparable method for reporting GHG emissions that can be used by oil and gas companies anywhere in the world[1]. Auditability is a key feature of SANGEA, which takes into consideration established auditing principles.

API provides SANGEA as a tool that is consistent with the API Compendium methodologies and Guidelines so that its members, may gather, aggregate and report their GHG emissions data,for submittal to API's "Climate Greenhouse Gas Estimation and Reporting Challenge". This will lead to public reporting of aggregate oil and gas company GHG emissions under the API Climate Challenge Program.
