SANGEATM is an automated, electronic data management information system designed to assist petroleum companies with estimating, managing and reporting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It can also be used to track energy consumption and criteria pollutant emissions.
SANGEA gathers GHG emissions and energy usage data from exploration and production, refining and marketing, petrochemicals, transportation, electricity consumption, manufacturing, coal mining, and other activities. It enables facilities (or Reporting Entities) to:
- Enter monthly operating data
- Calculate emissions
- Perform data analyses
- Create facility reports
This can be done on the basis of the total emissions from the sources, scaled by the company’s equity share of ownership, or whether or not the company is the operator of the source. SANGEA automatically produces quarterly reports to management for review and aggregation across the corporation.
Think of SANGEA as a series of steps. These steps involve understanding emissions sources, inventory boundaries, etc., defining the user's Reporting Entity, grouping emissions sources, determining which emissions estimation modules are required, selecting and configuring these estimation methods for the reporting entity's sources, entering monthly data, and generating and signing off on reports. The major steps involved in using SANGEA are:
- Configure File
- Define Locations
- Select Modules
- Configure Sources for the Selected Module(s)
- Input Data
- Create Reports
